„Restwert“

Dietmar Eckell photographs the „Restwert“ (residual value) of abandoned objects left in the middle of nowhere. He is interested in what remains in the end:

• the story of the object
• the beauty of decay and how nature reclaims it
• the evanescence: sooner or later these objects will be gone — but captured as photographs they vividly endure

His recent focus is to find objects where nature & culture form a „symbiosis“: together they look more interesting than separated. Eckell travels to the lonesome corners of the globe and documents the forgotten in large-scale photographic prints. Out of things long written off, value is formed anew.
