The artist and illustrator, born in Bavaria, has been living and working in Berlin since 2003. He prefers an old-school approach, working primarily with traditional analog tools—pen, ink, brush, and paper; drawing, painting, collaging, spraying, and printmaking. As a freelance illustrator, he has collaborated with numerous well-known international companies. As an independent artist, he is free to pursue his own distinctive style without having to conform to clients’ briefs or expectations.
His work is vibrant and colorful, drawing on the fundamentals of illustration in a deliberately naïve way before transforming them through his own distinctive visual language. Martin Krusche works across a wide range of techniques and enjoys being directly involved in every stage of the printmaking process. Stencil printing, linocut, and screen printing are among his preferred methods. His prints are produced in small editions, with every step—from the original artwork to the final print—created by the artist himself. His passion for analog craftsmanship is also reflected in the tactile quality of his paper works, where the character and texture of the materials play an essential role.
